What is the DUAL WebRater?

The WebRater is DUAL's online trading platform, which allows brokers to obtain a quote and bind a policy in less than two minutes, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

With full policy life cycle functionality the WebRater is available for 500 occupations across 8 different SME Insurance products.

How do I request WebRater training for my office?

WebRater Access & Login

How do I access the DUAL WebRater?
The DUAL WebRater can be accessed directly from www.dualnewzealand.co.nz and click the ‘WebRater login’ tab. Your login details will then be emailed across to you soon.
Can I share my login with my colleague?
For security reasons we don’t recommend sharing logins. Anyone wishing to use the WebRater can receive their own log in via: www.dualnewzealand.co.nz and clicking the ‘WebRater login’ tab. Login details will then be shortly emailed to the recipient.
What do I do if I can’t remember my login or need it changed?
If at any point you misplace your login details or need them reset, login on to the WebRater page and click on ‘Forgot Password’ to reset.

My details have changed, how do I update my details in the DUAL WebRater?
Please contact your dedicated WebRater team and request your details be updated.
How do I cancel my login for the DUAL WebRater?
You will need to contact your dedicated WebRater team and request your account to be deactivated.
How do I ask a question about the WebRater?
For new business, there is a dedicated WebRater support team and you can contact them via phone (09) 973 0190 or contact your dedicated WebRater team.
Why am I getting an error message on the login screen?

Please check the following:

  • Have spelt your email address correctly;
  • Does your password meets the requirements outlined on the screen;
  • If you are attempting to reset your password via Internet Explorer, please switch to Firefox or Chrome;

If none of these apply please contact your dedicated WebRater team at webrater@dualnewzealand.co.nz or by calling (09) 973 0190 for further assistance.

How do I search for my quote?
Log into the WebRater – click either quote or policy and search for the insured name
How do I create a new quote in the DUAL WebRater?
  • Log onto the DUAL WebRater
  • Click on Quotes then New Quotes
  • In the Basic Information Screen enter in all details
  • Click on ‘Select Coverage(s)’ to quote
  • Proceed to complete your quote

The DUAL WebRater asks for an address, what format do I type this in?
The DUAL WebRater uses an address service, you can type in the address in the following
format – number, street, suburb, country (for example: Level 6, 5 High Street, Auckland New Zealand)
How do I know what products are available for specific occupations?
Log into the WebRater – at the top of the tool bar there is a search function. Enter the clients occupation to see what products we can offer. Alternatively, please contact your dedicated WebRater team who will be able to assist.
How do I know which occupation or industry to pick for my client when quoting?
The WebRater provides an extensive list of occupations and industries to choose from.

Can I get a quote for multiple limit options?

Depending on the product, you can select up to 3 different limits of indemnity on the WebRater.


These are available once you have completed the clients General Information & Underwriting Criteria.


If the limit of liability you require is not available on the WebRater, please contact your dedicated WebRater team who will review the risk for you.

What is your minimum and maximum policy period?
Risks can be bound for a minimum of 6 months and up to a maximum of 18 months.
Can you provide Unlimited Retroactive cover?
Yes, DUAL provides both Policy Inception and Unlimited Retro options for clients. If the risk is a new policy you have the choice of selecting unlimited retroactive cover for a 50% EP. If the client is currently insured with DUAL or has cover elsewhere, we will automatically provide unlimited retroactive cover.
How does Retroactive date work on the WebRater?

If the insured is ‘insured elsewhere’ the retroactive date will automatically be ‘unlimited’. If the insured doesn’t have insurance, the retroactive date will automatically default to ‘policy inception’ however for a 50% load in premium each product line asks the question “Do you wish to change your retroactive date from policy inception to unlimited?”

Do I need the insured to complete a proposal form for the WebRater?
No, a proposal form is not necessary to quote and bind on the WebRater.
Can other people at my company see my quote/ policies?
Yes, although you individually quoted the insured we display all quotes and policies under your brokerage's account.
Does the DUAL WebRater produce a PDF Quote and/or Policy Schedule?
Yes, the DUAL WebRater will produce a PDF Quote and Policy Schedule. You can either download this or email the documents to yourself.
Can I pro-rata a policy on the DUAL WebRater?
The minimum policy period is 6 months and the maximum policy period is 18 months.  Policy Inception and Expiry Dates can be entered in the ‘Build Quote’ screen. If the policy has been bound you will need to contact your underwriter.
All product lines can incept on different dates, however must have the same expiry date. 
Referrals - Can I trigger one & what to do if one is referred?
Any question or query you have can be emailed to the WebRater team at webrater@dualnewzealand.co.nz or by calling (09) 973 0190. If you include the control number, client name and product line it will assist in our reply.
Can I add additional products to an existing insured?
You will need to log back into the quote and ‘select products’ to add an additional product line if it’s available for this client.
What happens if I never receive my quote?
Log back into the system and resend your quote OR you can view/download on screen. Alternatively you can contact the WebRater team at webrater@dualnewzealand.co.nz or by calling (09) 973 0190
How many occupations are available on the WebRater and where can I find this?

There are over 500 occupations in the WebRater. When you login, select ‘Available Occupations’ in the top right corner. If you cannot find an occupation you can contact your dedicated WebRater team at webrater@dualnewzealand.co.nz or by calling (09) 973 0190

My quote has referred, why can I no longer see this under my login?

If the risk cannot fit the WebRater parameters we remove the quote and underwrite manually.

Binding a Policy

How do I bind my quote?

Log back into the quote and click on ‘bind policy’

I’m trying to bind this quote but it says it has expired?

DUALs standard quote validity is 60 days from the date the indication was created. Once this has passed you will not be able to bind the risk and will need to requote this on the WebRater in order to bind terms.

Does the system produce a summary of my answers?
This feature is coming soon and we will let you know when it’s available.
What is the policy binding agreement/statement?
The binding agreement/statement is the declaration that we require you to read and confirm that the information entered into the DUAL WebRater is true and correct at the time of binding.
Do I need to send a closing in order to bind cover?
You can bind the quote via the DUAL WebRater and send the closing to webrater@dualnewzealand.co.nz.
Do I need to send DUAL a proposal form if I bind cover in WebRater?

No, as long as the answers are true and correct we don’t require a proposal form. If you would like to have the insured fill in a WebRater proposal form which mirrors the questions in WebRater you can find these on our website here

After binding cover on the WebRater when can I expect to receive the policy documents?

You will receive the policy documents in the next 24 hours via our automated system.

Cancelling a Policy

Can I cancel a policy in WebRater?
Unfortunately, you can’t cancel a policy through the WebRater after it has been incepted with DUAL. Please contact your dedicated WebRater team who can assist with cancellation

What if I need to change the period of insurance or endorse the policy after binding in WebRater?

If you would like to make changes to the policy once its bound please contact your dedicated WebRater team to via email at webrater@dualnewzealand.co.nz or by phone on (09) 973 0190. We don’t accept a closing as a form of an endorsement, you are required to communicate any endorsements with a DUAL underwriter for approval due to some cases we may require more information.

Where do I send a closing?

What is the standard commission on the DUAL WebRater?
Broker commission is 25%.  A broker can reduce their commission on the ‘Build Quote’ screen and the premium will be adjusted accordingly.
What is the Contract Review Service?
The Contract Review service provides the Insured 4 Contract Reviews during the Policy Period.
What is the Whistleblower Hotline?
The Whistleblower Hotline is a confidential and anonymous service where internal and external stakeholders can notify of suspect or actual fraudulent behaviour.

Can my client get Run-off cover?
DUAL can consider offering run off cover to existing clients. Please contact your dedicated WebRater team for further information.
Can I reduce my commission to reduce the premium?
Broker commission is 25%.  A broker can reduce their commission on the ‘Build Quote’ screen and the premium will be adjusted accordingly.
Which browser should I use the WebRater on?

We suggest using Google Chrome or Firefox. Please don’t use Internet Explorer.

If my submission does not fit the WebRater, what should I do?

DUAL Underwriters can still review the submission and provide terms. Please send your submission to enquiries@dualnewzealand.co.nz

Can I process my renewal on the WebRater?

You will be able to renew on Webrater any piece of business you have originally bound on WebRater. For your current renewal book we will upload the risks to WebRater once it is bound so that at next renewal is available for you.

What happens when I trigger a referral?

The WebRater will send a system generated email to DUAL. One of the Underwriters will either contact you for more information or release the referral if the answers provided are suitable to keep on the WebRater.

Do I need a proposal form if a referral is triggered?

No, we simply require more clarification or an in depth response to that specific question that triggered the referral.

Where can I reduce my brokerage?

In the Build Quote tab, simply click the drop down next to ‘see more’ and expand. Once this has expanded, ‘Commission’ will appear and you will be able to reduce your brokerage. You will need to do this for each line of business.

What are the key differences between Management Liability Platinum vs Management Liability Gold?

The key difference is the Management Liability Gold product is designed for the micro SME market with reduced limits and deductibles.
